오지 오스본의 노래.
Mr. Crowley와 함께
오지 오스본하면 딱 떠오르는 대표적인 곡이다. 동시에
헤비 메탈 그 자체를 상징하는 곡이기도 하며 대중음악 사상 가장 완성도가 높은 곡 중 하나로 꼽힌다.
오지 오스본,
랜디 로즈, 밥 데이즐리가 공동 작사 작곡하였다. 오지 오스본 밴드의 데뷔 앨범인
Blizzard of Ozz에 수록되었다.
[1] Mr. Crowley도 이 앨범에 수록되었는데 평은 Crazy쪽이 조금 더 높다.
의 기타 오프닝이 엄청나게 유명하다. 기타 배우는 사람중 이 곡을 안 쳐본 사람이 없을 정도다.
그리고 초심자의 95% 이상은 무지막지하게 빠른 속도에 나가 떨어져버린다. 기타 솔로도 상당히 고평가받는다. 이 곡을 직접 연주해보면 랜디 로즈가 얼마나 대단한 기타리스트였는지 실감하게 된다. 곡의 가사는
냉전을 바탕으로 하여 양쪽으로 갈라져 싸우는 사람들, 그리고 그런 사람들의 갈등을 부추기는
기레기들을 비판하는 내용이다. 이 때문에 Crazy Train은 가장 정치적인 가사를 가진 헤비 메탈 송으로도 꼽힌다.
[2] 그냥 신나는 메탈 송인줄 알고 있다가 가사를 알고 놀라는 경우가 많다. 참고로 오지 오스본은 골수 좌파, 노동당 지지자이다. 노동 계급 출신이라는 그의 배경을 안다면 그가 이런 가사를 쓰는 것도 별 이상하지는 않다.
싱글로도 발매되었는데 현재까지 미국에서 400만 장, 영국에서 20만 장 가량이 팔렸다. 그야말로 오지 오스본과 헤비 메탈 그 자체를 상징하는 명곡 중의 명곡. 미국에서는 대중적으로도 인지도가 높아서, 스포츠 경기의 응원송으로도 자주 활용한다. NFL
